As of September 1st, Chimborazo Elementary will officially be considered an IB Candidate school. So, what does this mean?
After a lot of hard work from everybody involved in the IB application process, we can now officially say that we are an IB Candidate school! Thank you to the teachers, parents, administrators, and volunteers for your help so far. A special thank you to Donna Fout for her tireless effort in preparing the IB application and educating the team on the process.
So, what does this IB Candidacy mean? It means the following:
Chimborazo Elementary School is a candidate school for the Primary Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Chimborazo Elementary School believes is important for our students.
Only schools authorized by the IB organization can offer any of its three academic programmes: The Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme ( and in addition the IB Career-related Certificate). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
